Insta360, famous for their pocket-sized 360-degree cameras, is going to new heights. No longer just about filming every angle of a mountain bike descent or tropical escape, they’re taking on DJI, the consumer drone leader, with two new drones codenamed “Antigravity”.

The smaller one is a tiny marvel, roughly the size of the DJI Flip or Neo, designed for portability and ease. Patent filings show a smart modular design with removable propeller guards, making part swaps or travel packing a breeze. For creators on the move, this drone leverages Insta360’s 360-degree expertise, with dual fisheye lenses—one up, one down—to capture seamless spherical footage. Unlike their earlier Sphere accessory for the DJI Mavic Air 2, this isn’t just a camera slapped onto a drone—it’s a purpose built system that stitches 360-degree video without the drone’s body or propellers intruding.

The bigger drone is targeting the DJI Mini series and ups the ante. Its folding design with four propeller arms is similar to the DJI Mini but with a clever twist. Insta360 positions the arms and motors to stay out of the camera’s field of view, creating an “invisible” drone in the final footage. This solves a common problem in 360-degree drone video where propellers or bodies often creep into wide angle shots. Insta360’s solution tilts the motors outward and downward by up to 20 degrees, so the arms are in the stitching blind spot of the dual fisheye lenses, giving you clean, uninterrupted visuals that keep the focus on the scene.

Weight is still a mystery for both drones. Leaks suggest they’ll likely be under 250g, so they’ll fit into the lightweight category that avoids stricter regulations in many countries, making them direct rivals to the DJI Mini 5 Pro or Neo. Insta360’s advantage is in their software. Known for tools like FlowState stabilization and AI-driven editing, they could deliver smooth, polished drone footage. Drawing from their 360-degree camera expertise, expect intuitive apps to allow shot reframing, dynamic pans or simulated FPV-style flights from raw 360-degree footage.

The “Antigravity” name on the bigger drone’s frame in the leaked images is interesting—maybe it’s because it’s light or agile or just a prototype codename. Camouflage tape on the test units suggests they’re still tweaking, with a launch months away. No official specs yet, including battery life, flight time or video resolution but given the Insta360 X5 camera with 8K video and 120-megapixel photos, it’s going to be high end.
