Google’s Pixel Watch 3, priced at $171 (was $300), may safely be considered a rival for anyone seeking for a flagship smartwatch who isn’t locked into the Apple ecosystem. Google used the lessons from the previous two models and created a watch that seemed to have all of the appropriate features.
Google hasn’t changed the Pixel Watch’s distinctive appearance, so the curved glass face remains wrapped around the corners. The watch feels lightweight in the hand while remaining a robust piece of equipment. It is 45mm broad, 12.3mm thick, and weighs 37 grams without the strap. It’s really easy to put on most wrists without feeling overly bulky.

A larger screen makes a significant impact here, as the 1.4-inch Actua display has a 456 x 456 pixel resolution and a decent 320 ppi. This provides it over 40% more real estate to work with than the Pixel Watch 2, resulting in sharper lettering, maps with more data on show at a glance, and exercise stats with enough space to breathe without becoming cluttered. Plus, the screen has a brightness rating of up to 2,000 nits, allowing you to read it in direct sunlight. The always-on setting allows you to view the time and other basic information even when the watch is trying to drain the battery. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects it all, so daily scratches will not be an issue.
Battery life now meets the expectations of a typical daily user, with Google estimating that the 45mm will last roughly 24 hours with the always-on display turned on and up to 36 hours with the power saver mode enabled. On the other hand, I’m betting you can get more than two full days of use out of it, even if you’re using it with GPS for runs or exercises. The larger battery in this version (as compared to the 41mm one) helps keep up with the demands of the larger screen without burning out prematurely, and because it has a quick charge of 50% in under 30 minutes with the provided charger, you should be able to get some power back quickly.

Fitbit is primarily responsible for the fitness tracking. Even in continuous or interval mode, heart rate monitoring is fairly accurate. You can also create personalized workouts with speed guidance, voice cues, and haptic feedback to help you adjust your stride on the fly. It also has sleep analysis, which breaks down your stage, skin temperature, and even readiness levels, allowing you to understand how you slept and what you can do to improve it. There are also safety features such as fall detection and emergency SOS, and if your heartbeat stops, the watch will inform emergency personnel.
