Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 17e next week, on February 19, ahead of the traditional fall release timetable. As a result, this handset will be released in early 2026, apart from the rest of the lineup. That said, its purported metal body makes it feel like a genuine high-end phone, and the build quality is similar to its higher-priced predecessors.
The screen size measures 6.1 inches with a 60Hz refresh rate, which is an efficient choice that will likely help keep the power-hungry battery life looking good for longer, and it also helps keep the cost down a little. According to technology leaker Jon Prosser, Apple may still use a notch rather than a Dynamic Island, as seen on some older models (such as the iPhone 14).

The back camera remains a single 48-megapixel sensor, so the hardware will not set any new records, but the new CPU will be a perceptible step up, especially in low light, photo processing will be improved, and everyday shots will hold up well to a close look. The front camera has a new 18-megapixel sensor placed in a square bit on the front, and it works nicely with Apple’s Center Stage function, so no matter how much you move during a video conversation, your face remains in the center of the screen.

Inside, we now have a slightly tagged-back A19 chip, along with a C1X component that will further reduce power consumption, and, of course, 8GB of RAM to keep things running smoothly and make the most of all the fantastic features that Apple has placed in.

Battery capacity should be approximately 4,000 mAh, which, when combined with the chips within, will truly live up to Apple’s customary claim of running for a whole day without needing to be recharged, give or take 20 to 24 hours depending on how hard you use the gadget. MagSafe charging makes its debut at this tier, opening up a plethora of options for peripherals and charging docks that just snap onto the back.

The color options will most likely be black or white, or perhaps a third ‘hero’ color such as lavender (though don’t get too excited just yet, this is just a rumor), while storage levels will be set to a fairly standard level, you know, the usual stuff that fits with the $599 price point, which, let’s be honest, is probably about right.
