HP announces the OMEN Gaming Subscription, a monthly program that lets you use a brand-new gaming laptop for a recurring fee. Initially available in the United States as a pilot project, this service is aimed at serious gamers who cannot afford, or do not have the means for, the initial cost of a high-end gaming laptop. You choose the model you want, add any extra accessories you desire, and then sign up for a series of monthly payments that cover the laptop itself, as well as any ongoing support and maintenance.
There are four pricing categories available; the Victus 15-inch laptop is the base level, costing $49.99 per month. This particular model includes an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 GPU with 6GB GDDR6, 16GB RAM, and a 1TB hard drive. The Omen 16 costs $69.99 a month and features an AMD Ryzen AI 7 processor and an RTX 5060 GPU with 8GB GDDR6. The Omen 17 costs $79.99 a month and features the same Ryzen AI 7 as the Omen 16, but with an RTX 5070 GPU (8GB GDDR7). The Omen Max 16 costs $129.99 a month and includes an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, an RTX 5080 GPU (16GB GDDR7), 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB storage drive.

So, what are you getting for your money? Subscribers can expect 24/7 live help and next-business-day replacements if something goes wrong. If you wish to add some extra gear, you can do so for an additional cost. The membership includes an optional HyperX gear, such as a mouse, headset, microphone, or even an Omen monitor. At the end of the 12-month period, you return the existing laptop and change to whatever newer model HP has available at the moment, and you begin a new cycle of payments. Unless you cancel, your subscription will automatically renew each month.

New customers have a 30-day trial period during which they can try out anything and return it if it does not work out. During the trial period, anything returned within 10 days of getting a prepaid postage label will not be charged. Canceling after that incurs certain early termination fees, which will be waived after the first year. For example, if you cancel after two months on the Victus tier, you may be charged roughly $550, however on the Omen Max 16, the amount might be as high as $1,430. However, if you cancel after the first 12 months, those expenses will be waived, and all you need to do is return the laptop to get out of the contract. Or, if you change your mind, you may just keep paying and keep the laptop indefinitely. Check it out here.
