A Toyota Prius doesn’t exactly scream speed, it’s the car you’d pick for a quiet commute or a road trip. But Vishnu Suresh, the mastermind behind Zephyr Designz, saw something else in the fifth-generation Prius—a blank canvas. His digital creation, a Prius turned open-top roadster, combines the hybrid’s humble beginnings with the bold lines of a supercar.
Suresh starts with the Prius’ new design, which debuted in late 2022 and gets rid of the boxy look of the previous cars. The fifth gen has sharper angles and a fastback silhouette, making it the perfect base for something wild. He strips away the roof, turning the five-door hybrid into a two-door roadster. Wide fenders flare out, wrapping around massive HRE alloy wheels.

Vented bumpers and deep side skirts add aggression, while a sculpted hood as well as a ducktail spoiler sharpen the profile. The rear deck is styled like a supercar’s engine cover, sitting above a diffuser with dual exhausts dead center. Only a few pieces of the original Prius remain: the hammerhead LED headlights, the slim upper grille, part of the tailgate and the windshield.
Inspiration comes from some of the most iconic supercars that cost way more than a Prius. Suresh uses the diffuser flow from a Porsche 911 Speedster, the hood vents from a McLaren 765LT and the rear deck stance from a Lamborghini Aventador. It feels like a hybrid of European exotics, far removed from Toyota’s assembly lines. Every curve and vent screams performance, as if the Prius could trade its 220 horsepower plug-in hybrid system for something wilder—like a mid-mounted V8 paired with electric motors up front. Sure it’s a fantasy, but it’s one that makes you wonder what a Prius could be if Toyota let’s loose.
