Lexus unveiled its all new Sport Concept at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, at the beautiful Quail Lodge & Golf Club in Carmel, California. This two door coupe is the essence of the classic Lexus LFA and the future.
The automaker calls the Sport Concept a “progressively styled, future focused yet truly authentic sports car” and it delivers. The car is low and wide with sharp edges and sweeping curves. A tall hood hides large alloy wheels giving the car a solid, muscular look. The front fascia replaces the brand’s distinctive spindle grille with a cleaner, while L-shaped LED headlights blend into the air intakes and diamond shaped daytime running lights glow softly.

The LFA cues are on the sides with vents behind the front wheels and an aerodynamic flare on the C pillar. The wing like elements that look like flying buttresses direct air onto an active rear spoiler that punctuates the short back deck. A full width LED taillight strip illuminates the back of the car except for an illuminated Lexus logo. A massive rear diffuser with an F1 style center brake light adds to the racing experience.

Powertrain details are scarce but the lack of exhaust pipes suggests an electric powertrain. This fits with rumors of a fully electric sports car by late 2026, possibly as a replacement for the aging LC coupe. Lexus CEO Koji Sato has hinted at an electric car with the LFA’s spirit, with a simulated manual transmission to keep drivers engaged. According to sources the car can go from 0-60 in the low 2 second range and has a 430 mile range, possibly due to solid state batteries. While those specs are unconfirmed they paint a picture of a car that will change everything.

Inside we get a glimpse of its digital instrument cluster and yoke style steering wheel, implying a possible drive by wire system. One interesting detail jumps out: a roof top contraption with four fans and a bright central fin. This is not something you see every day. It’s probably related to thermal management in the electric powertrain.

What will this car become? The LFR? A straight LFA successor? A LC replacement that combines luxury and performance? Or something entirely new to carve out a new space? Lexus is being tight lipped but an end of 2025 reveal keeps us excited. For now the Sport Concept is a glimpse of what’s possible – a car that combines heritage and innovation that will thrill when it hits the road in 2026.
