Ford Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon Fuses Street Beast with Racing DNA, Has Supercharged V8 Making 815HP

Ford Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon
The Mustang has always been a symbol of American muscle, but the new Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon takes that and carves it into something sharper, bolder and more modern. With a supercharged V8 producing 815 horsepower, this Mustang is designed to conquer the road and the track.

Carbon fiber is the Liquid Carbon’s calling card. Ford shows off the raw weaving of the material on the hood, roof, rear deck, and fenders by avoiding the paint booth. The end effect is a style that is both futuristic and primordial, with the carbon patterns flawlessly aligning across body panels for a unified, almost obsessive aesthetic. Shedding the paint and replacing door sheet metal with bonded carbon fiber trims 13 pounds compared to the Carbon Series with the Performance package.

Under the hood is a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, engineered by Ford Performance to produce 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque. Paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, it goes 0-60 in 3.3 seconds and tops out at 202 mph. These numbers aren’t just impressive – they’re proof of the car’s racing DNA. Earlier this year a Mustang GTD with similar specs lapped the Nürburgring in under 7 minutes, a track that humbles even the most capable cars. The Liquid Carbon comes with the Performance package, which includes a larger front splitter, Drag Reduction System (DRS) flap for the rear wing, underbody flaps and semi-active racing suspension. Add in magnesium wheels and you’ve got a car that’s just as at home on a circuit as it is on a backroad.

Inside the cabin, it’s raw performance meets subtle refinement. The seats, door panels, and steering wheel are covered in black leather and Dinamica microfiber, with Hyper Lime contrast stitching. The chairs have a shiny gradient pattern, which adds a touch of flair to the otherwise functional interior. A 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and 13.2-inch infotainment system keep the driver connected, while carbon fiber trim reinforces the car’s tech cred.

Brakes are handled by Brembo calipers, anodized in black with gloss-black GTD script. They’re not just functional – they’re a visual clue that this car means business. The calipers clamp down on rotors that provide precise stopping power whether you’re slowing for a tight corner or coming to a stop after a hot lap. The suspension is tuned for track performance and adapts to road conditions so the Liquid Carbon is usable on the daily – though it’s clear this car wants the open track.

Ford hasn’t released pricing but the $40,000 Performance package and carbon-heavy construction suggest this is a premium product. Deliveries start in October 2025 and when they do this Mustang will redefine what a muscle car can be. Greg Goodall, the Mustang GTD’s chief program engineer, sums it up perfectly: the exposed carbon fiber is a reminder of the race-derived capability beneath the surface.
