A 30-meter tall cruise ship looms over Nanjing West Road in Shanghai, its metal hull shining with Louis Vuitton’s monogram. Unveiled on June 28, 2025, at the HKRI Taikoo Hui complex, this three-story, 1,600 square meter wonder isn’t just a store – it’s a must-see attraction that draws in crowds with its ship-like design.
Walk up and you’re hit with a lower hull that shines with silver monogram panels and a bold red stripe, while the upper decks stack up like Louis Vuitton trunks, complete with leather straps and white stitching. You can’t miss the giant LV-shaped anchor at the bow tips either.

Step inside and you’re greeted by the Visionary Journeys exhibition that sprawls across 1,200 square meters over the first two floors. Designed by OMA’s Shohei Shigematsu, it’s a 10-room maze that weaves Louis Vuitton’s story with a cinematic flair. You start at Trunkscape, an archway of monogrammed trunks framed by LED nature scenes.
Each room in Visionary Journeys is like flipping through a chapter of Louis Vuitton’s book. The Origins room takes you back to 1859 at the Asnières workshop, showing how those legendary hard-sided trunks were born. Voyage is all about the romance of travel with old-school posters and bag patents, while the Sport room flexes custom trunks for Formula 1, FIFA, the Olympics, ski gear and racquets.
The Perfume room is a sensory trip, from the 1927 Heures d’Absence bottle to today’s scents by Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud. The Books room spotlights Gaston-Louis Vuitton’s writings, name-dropping fans like Ernest Hemingway. The Workshop and Testing rooms let you see the craft, with artisans wielding tools called “Louise” and “Louisette” to get every detail just right.
Upstairs and the retail floors are a treasure chest of leather goods, accessories and men’s and women’s ready-to-wear. Personalization is the star – hot-stamp stations offer Shanghai-exclusive designs like the city skyline or ship-inspired motifs, so your purchase becomes a one-off.
And top it off on the third floor at Le Café Louis Vuitton where French meets Haipai. Chefs Leonardo Zambrino and Zoe Zhou serve up dishes that combine East and West – monogrammed ravioli shaped like jiaozi or a Caesar salad with yuzu. The café’s wood and soft lighting is like a vintage ship cabin, with an outdoor terrace under parasols.
