YouTuber ProfessorBoots has cooked up something special: a 3D-printed remote-controlled dump truck that’s as much a desk toy as it is a jaw-dropping conversation starter. Don’t expect to see this beast on a construction site, but it’s got enough smarts to steal the show anywhere.
The truck is split into two sections—a six-wheeled tractor and a side-dumping trailer. The tractor, built to feel like a mini semi, rolls on six wheels. The coolest feature? A magnetic hitch that pops in and out with a flick of the remote, connecting to the trailer with power and control lines that keep everything in sync. It’s not just towing—it’s a slick, moving system that feels alive. The trailer’s no slouch either, tilting its load left or right like a pro, ready to dump whatever you toss in it.

ProfessorBoots leaned hard into 3D printing to make this happen, turning a hobbyist’s dream into reality. The tractor and trailer are mostly printed from PETG filament, tough enough to take a beating while still easy to work with. For the suspension, he switched to TPU filament, while off-the-shelf wheels were for better grip rather than printing them.
An ESP32 microcontroller runs the show, taking orders from a custom RC controller. This isn’t your basic point-and-go rig—it’s a finely tuned setup that handles the tractor’s drive, the hitch’s dance, and the trailer’s dumping with pinpoint accuracy. A brushed DC motor, powered by a 3S lithium-polymer battery, gives the tractor the oomph to haul its load across a desk or through a backyard. The hitch even passes power and signals to the trailer, making that side-dumping action silky smooth.
